Dogue de bordeauxs

Dogue de bordeauxs: Breed specifications

Country of Origin:
France
Size:
58 - 68 cm
Coat:
The coat consists of soft hair and is mahogany red or a wild colour, with a red or black mask. White markings are not appreciated.
Character:
Balanced, calm, not a barker, kind, observant, curious, extremely brave, physically tough on itself, extremely attached to its owner and its family. The Dogue de Bordeaux will protect the family and guard home and grounds well.
Temperament:
If a Dogue de Bordeaux has had many (positive) impressions in its youth, because of which it has been able to build up a balanced character, his association with other pets will probably be fine.
Care:
Regularly brush the coat with a rubber brush to remove dead and loose hair during the shedding season. Also clean facial folds if necessary.
Training:
Make sure a young dog does not get too tired and that the dog is given high quality and complete feed.
Activity:
The breed has an average need for exercise. A couple of (leashed) walks a day and unleashed running and playing several times a week are sufficient for a Dogue de Bordeaux.
